MapGuide Plug-in Installation
Guide
Sorry you are
having problems, the following should fix you up.
Our GIS Websites
run in Internet Explorer; they will work on Macs, but only if PC emulation
software is running so that the Mac can run Internet Explorer.
General Help Section:
Did you install
the viewer? Some people download it but
never double-click on the downloaded file to actually install it. If this is the case, then please try
this: (If you remember clicking “I
agree” and “next” about 4 times then you did install the viewer and skip this
next step)
If you don’t
remember clicking “I agree” and “next” about 4 times than re-down the viewer,
Download Latest Mapguide Plug-In
choose English, then pick “run” and follow the prompts.
If, on the other
hand, you already installed the viewer plug-in and you are still having
troubles viewing the map portion of the GIS Website, then the next most likely
problem is the way your Internet Explorer is configured.
Sometimes new
installs of IE have settings that need to be altered so that it allows Active X
controllers to work, and also security protection software may be set on your PC to not allow
plug-ins to work unless you specifically activate them.
Most often, if the
plug-in is installed but the map window does not show up, then
the problem is that the permissions of Internet Explorer are not set to allow
ActiveX viewer control. Please try the
following:
Within Internet
Explorer, try going to Tools, Internet Options, Security, Internet, Custom
Level, and see if Run ActiveX controls is enabled; it must be enabled for the MapGuide
software to run.

If you are still
having trouble, sometimes the error below appears at the top of IE, and if
your volume is turned down you don’t hear the Alarm that also sounds, if this is the case, to
initiate the ActiveX control you must click the message at the top of your IE
window and follow the prompts, see below.
In IE8,
the screens look a little different than above:
The Tools, Manage
Add-ons is found on the right-hand side of the tool bar, see below
And then you see a
screen similar to the following, where you can pick and activate the AutoDesk
MapGuide Plug-in.
If it is not
marked as Enabled in the above image, it needs to be, so click on it an select Allow On All Sites, see below:
And finally, some
people have reported a problem that when performing multiple double-clicks
within parcels to display the parcel detail information, that IE shuts down and
kicks them out of the website when they double-click the second parcel; if this
problem is occurring, try going to IE, tools, internet options, advanced and
de-select Enable Script Debugging.
