Through education, the County hopes to get as many residents as possible involved in their
efforts to reduce stormwater pollution in the County. Currently there are several ways you can volunteer; if your family, business,
or civic organization is interested in getting involved with any of the programs listed below, please email
Shannon Navarre
at Keep Barrow Beautiful, or call her at 770-307-3020.

Storm-drain Stenciling
Did you know that every storm drain in Barrow County leads directly to a stream?
The County storm-drain stenciling program aims to educate all residents of this fact by clearly marking
storm-drain inlets with a notice such as "Don't Dump, Drains to Stream." Volunteers will be organized
and provided supplies for stenciling along with location of the storm drains to be stenciled.
Adopt-A-Road
The Adopt-A-Road Program recruits volunteer to clean up and maintain a stretch of County road.
Debris on the road becomes debris in our streams with the next rainfall.
Adopt-A-Stream
Adopt-A-Stream is a volunteer stream-monitoring program supported throughout the state.
Barrow County employs a certified Adopt-A-Stream trainer and organizes groups to monitor our County streams.
The program also supports an annual stream clean up effort called Rivers Alive.
